Bank robber wanted for W.H. holdup

Nassau County police reported a bank robbery that occurred in West Hempstead on Monday, May 5.

At 1:38 p.m., according to police, a suspect wearing a Rastafarian-style hat, a wig and eyeglasses walked into Chase Bank at 565 Hempstead Turnpike and handed a teller a note demanding money. Once given an unknown amount of cash, the suspect soon fled eastbound on foot down Hempstead Turnpike.

Police said that nine employees and 11 customers were present at the time of the robbery, but reported no injuries.

The suspect is described as a black male standing at 5 feet and 10 inches or about 6 feet tall with a medium-stocky build.
