Joan Jett rocks Eisenhower Park

Thousands gathered at the Harry Chapin Lakeside Theatre in Eisenhower Park last Saturday to see Rock ‘n’ roll legends Joan Jett and Blackhearts, as part of Nassau County’s free summer concert series.

Jett, a one-time resident of both Rockville Centre and Long Beach, played several well-known originals and covers from the band’s extensive catalogue, including “Bad Reputation,” “Cherry Bomb” and “I Love Rock ‘n’ Roll,” before capping off with “Everyday People,” originally recorded by Sly and the Family Stone.

Nassau County has welcomed prominent artists to the Harry Chapin Lakeside Theatre, near parking fields 6 and 6A, all throughout the summer — but none bigger than Jett.

The concert series will continue until Sept. 19. This Sunday, Aug. 28, Desert Highways, an Eagles tribute band, will take the stage at 7 p.m.
