The New York State Council of Administrators of Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance named South Side High School health, athletic and physical education director Carol Roseto the recipient of its Nassau Zone Director of the Year Award.

The award is presented to longtime members of NYSAHPERD and the Council of Administrators who have distinguished themselves by their exemplary commitment to health and physical education. It also honors exceptional leadership in advancing the disciplines of physical education, adapted physical education and health education on the elementary, middle and secondary-school levels.

“It is amazing to be selected by the Nassau County COA for this prestigious award,” she said.

Roseto has been with Rockville Centre Schools since 2009. In her second year, she received a $1.38 million grant that lifted the physical education program into the 21st century by focusing on technology, the desire to increase activity time and the overall health and wellness of students.

The grant also gave her the opportunity to expand the curriculum, add new programs and increase teaching resources. It also brought extensive professional development to all health and physical educators in the district. In 2013, she successfully completed all steps to become a nationally certified athletic administrator.

In addition, she is an advisor for the District Wellness Committee and Athletes Helping Athletes. Roseto also serves Section Eight athletics as the advisor to the girls’ volleyball coordinator and acts as the Modified Athletic Counsel secretary, the Modified Conference 2 secretary, the Section Eight representative for the Student Athlete Development Committee, and is a member of the Awards, Ethics and Plaques Committees.

Roseto has a bachelor’s degree in business management and an MBA in marketing from Hofstra University. She also earned a master’s degree in physical education at Adelphi.
