West Hempstead bank robbed

Police are searching for a man who allegedly robbed a bank inside of a supermarket in West Hempstead at 4:58 p.m. on Feb. 25.

The suspect walked into the People’s United Bank inside of the Stop & Shop at 50 Cherry Valley Avenue and gave the teller a note demanding cash, police said. The 32 year-old female teller complied and the suspect fled on foot southbound towards Hempstead Turnpike with a undisclosed amount of cash.

At the time of the robbery there were three employees inside of the bank. No injuries were reported.

The suspect is described as black, 5 foot 7 inches tall, in his early 20’s, with a medium complexion, a light mustache and wearing a gray hooded coat, blue jeans, and black sneakers.
