Posted

The Central Nassau County Rotary Club and its foundation held its second annual Bladder Cancer Awareness walk at Tanglewood Preserve in Rockville Centre on Oct. 7. Over 100 people signed up to take part in the walk and helped to raise over $10,000, which will support research and advocacy for bladder cancer at Northwell Hospital and other organizations that examine this illness. Bladder cancer is the fourth most common cancer among men and veterans, the sixth most common among women and its more common among firefighters, according to the Rotary Club.
The Central Nassau County Rotary Club is a service group that meets every Thursday at the Lantern Diner, located at 564 Hempstead Turnpike in West Hempstead, at 8:30 a.m. Breakfast for members and non-members is $11.
