Renown author entertains at Old Mill

With his boisterous personality and a myriad of animated voices, renown children’s author Chris Grabenstein visited Old Mill Road Elementary on May 30. In front of dozens of fourth, fifth and sixth graders, Grabenstein shared tips on being a good writer.

Grabenstein is a well-known children’s author, having written the “Lemoncello” series, the “I Funny” series and “Riley Mack,” an audio book with a full cast of actors. “Escape from Mr. Lemoncello’s Library” was adapted into a Nickelodeon movie in 2017.

After sharing his career highlights with the children and creating an original ad-lib story, Grabenstein told his secrets to creating a written adventure.

“The first draft is just for you!” he exclaimed. “Let your imagination run wild, don’t edit yourself and then go back and make it better.”

At the presentation’s end, students’ hands shot up into the air to ask questions.
