Sea Cliff snow minimal

Posted

Snow started falling across Nassau County around 10 a.m. on Saturday, but Sea Cliff only ended up accumulating an inch, said Mayor Ed Lieberman. The National Weather Service had predicted three to five inches of the white stuff, with potentially higher totals on the North Shore. "It really doesn't look like anything substantial here," Lieberman said.

The NWS said to be prepared for potentially hazardous driving conditions, particularly because wet leaves combined with snow could make for slippery roads.

In Sea Cliff narrow roads and hills can also lead to dangerous driving conditions, even if the snow is minimal. "We always ask people to stay home when it snows," he said. "And if they do have to go out to drive slow."

The Nassau County Department of Public Works sanded the county roads in Sea Cliff early in the morning. Four village vehicles went out late this afternoon to sand the other roads.

A Winter Weather Advisory was in effect for parts of northeast New Jersey and southeast New York, including all of the Island, through Sunday morning.
