West Hempstead school board candidate, Vincent Trocchia

Posted

Vincent Trocchia, a West Hempstead resident who has been a school board member for 27 years, is running unopposed in the May 16 election.

Why are you running?
I have experience and history to contribute to the community through the School Board. We have a new administration, and many capital projects ongoing. My knowledge in engineering can help the district. I’m the only one on the school board at the present time that knows about heating and cooling — things they are proposing to do to the district’s buildings. I was instrumental in putting the bond together with the rest of the board, and I want to follow this project through. I’ve been through bond issues before in our school district, and I think it’s important that I’m still there.

What improvements or changes does the district need to make?
We need to increase our academics, which are think are coming.

Why should people vote for you?
Experience, I’ve been there a long time.

What are some changes you’re most proud to be a part of in the district?
We were able to keep our budget and maintain our staff in the last two years.
