The Nassau County Police Department is investigating an indecent exposure incident that occurred in Merrick on Monday night.

According to detectives, two nine year old sisters encountered a white male twice while traveling to and from their Petit Avenue home to their grandmother's house on Webster Street.

One girl, while riding her bike to her grandmother's, saw the man sitting on a bicycle on the corner of Petit Avenue and Webster Street, intentionally exposing himself to her. She turned around to go home and tell her parents.

About two minutes later, her sister saw the same man while riding home from her grandmother's house. As she attempted to ride her bicycle past him, the man lunged at her, grabbing her shoulders, stopping her and attempted to pull her pants down. The girl yelled at the man and was able to get away and ride home to her parents.

The man, who fled the scene, was described as being in his 20’s, with brown hair. He was wearing a black shirt, red pants, black sneakers and a paper mask covering his mouth. His bicycle was described as being black in color with a white stripe and was possibly motorized. He was last seen heading westbound on Webster Street.

Detectives request anyone with information regarding the above incident to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS. All callers will remain anonymous.
