Helping vets and their pets stay healthy

The Nassau County Legislature brought the non-profit Paws of War’s Vets2Vets Mobile Veterinary Clinic to Eisenhower Park on May 6.

During the program, free veterinary health services were provided to the service animals of veterans and first responders.

The event sponsored by Legislator Laura Schaefer and co-sponsored by Legislator Thomas McKevitt, Legislator Rose Marie Walker and Legislator John Ferretti provided service animals with wellness checks, vaccinations, microchipping and other support.

The pandemic caused financial challenges for many veterans and first responders and the Mobile Veterinary Clinic gave their service animals access to premium care at no cost.

The wellness of serviced animals is essential and allows them to assist owners who are suffering from the emotional and physical effects of war.
