A homeless man was arrested on Jan. 20 after allegedly assaulting two police officers during transport to a warming center in Wantagh, according to Nassau County Police.

Officers responded to a welfare check at the Roosevelt Field Mall Parking Garage, 630 Old Country Road, East Garden City around 10:44 p.m. and encountered Kysaan Goff, 29, in a parking garage. Police said Goff initially declined medical attention but requested transport to a warming center.

During the ride, Goff allegedly became combative, grabbing an officer's shoulder and bending their finger, causing a sprain. He also reportedly resisted and swung his arms at the officers.

Goff was subdued, arrested, and taken to a hospital for evaluation. Both officers sustained hand lacerations, and one suffered a shoulder injury.

Goff is charged with two counts of assault and will be arraigned when medically cleared.
