A 37-year-old Island Park man was arrested Thursday after allegedly striking a Village of Island Park Code Enforcement Agent with his vehicle following a dispute over a summons, police said.
Police responded to 127 Long Beach Road after 3 p.m., where they determined that Matthew Sullivan, of Island Park, had engaged in an argument with the 25-year-old agent. The dispute escalated, and Sullivan allegedly got into his vehicle and intentionally hit the agent.
The agent was transported to a nearby hospital for evaluation and treatment. Sullivan was arrested at the scene without incident and charged with second-degree assault. He is scheduled for arraignment Friday at First District Court in Hempstead.
