Lynbrook, East Rockaway students return to school

The East Rockaway and Lynbrook school districts welcomed students back during the first day of school of the 2021-22 school year last week.

Staff in East Rockaway greeted students with open arms on Sept. 2 as they entered their respective buildings. In addition, students were introduced to their new learning environments and participated in fun exercises with other classmates.

Students and staff members returned to Lynbrook Public Schools on Sept. 9 for the first day of school, which brought with it new opportunities and a return to in-person learning.

At Lynbrook High School, students were greeted with an entirely new wing. Thanks to the successful passage of a bond in the fall of 2017, high schoolers have additional opportunities at their fingertips, including an innovation center, modernized art and music classrooms, a school store and a dedicated classroom for the Career Development Program.

“We are very excited to welcome our students back to our buildings for a year of in-person learning,” Superintendent of Schools Dr. Melissa Burak said. “This year will present unique challenges, but as we always do in Lynbrook, we will rise up and persevere.”
