Man tries to lure girl into his van near East Meadow High School, police say

Police have launched an investigation after a man allegedly tried to lure a child into a van near East Meadow High School on March 5 at 6:45 a.m.

The 15-year old girl was waiting at the school's designated bus stop on Carman Avenue, by Nottingham Road, when she was approached by an unfamiliar man driving a gray SUV, according to police.

The subject told the girl that a relative sent him and attempted to lure her into his van, but she refused to comply.

The subject then fled northbound on Carman Avenue, police said. He is described as a white male, in his 50s, with bushy eyebrows, a gray trimmed beard and mustache and dark gray hair parted down the middle.
