A horn sounded at the count of three and the racers were off! St. William the Abbot R.C. Church hosted its inaugural Turkey Trot Fun Run and 5K Run and Walk in Seaford on Nov. 20.

Parishioners and community members gathered outside the church on Jackson Avenue around 8 a.m. Children and other church-goers took off for the Fun Run at 8:30 a.m., and the 5K race and walk began at 9 a.m. Some attendees sported turkey costumes, including Fr. James Hansen, who hosted the race. The event served as a fundraiser for the church, so it can continue to benefit the community. Post-race refreshments were provided to participants.

St. William the Abbot has over 600 parishioners of the Catholic faith and always welcomes new attendees. Next month, the church will host a Christmas tree-lighting ceremony (with a visit from Santa Claus!) on Dec. 10 at 5 p.m. For more information about the event and St. William the Abbot, go online to: https://stwilliam.org/about-us.
