Ukulele 101 for grades 3-9

Learn the basics of playing the ukulele at the East Meadow Public Library, in its Young Adult room, on Jan. 9 at 7 p.m. This is a four-week workshop, through which attendees will learn about tuning, scales, and chords. At the end, put all of your skills together to start playing songs. Ukuleles will be provided, but attendees could bring their own. Registration began Thursday, Dec. 26.

Maximizing Social Security & Retirement

Maximizing Social Security & Retirement: Timing, Taxes & Health Care, with Richard Milella, is an educational course at the East Meadow Public Library on Jan. 11 at 11 a.m. and again at Jan. 14 at 1 p.m. Smart decisions require good information. The rules keep changing. You need to know how to benefit from these changes. Milella will discuss the rules in detail and learn how they might affect your lifetime retirement income. This conversation covers when you should apply for Social Security, reducing the taxes on your payment, health concerns and your Social Security.

Winter Sock Buddies

All those in second through fifth grade are invited to make an adorable sock snowman or penguin for the winter season at the East Meadow Public Library, in its Young Adult Room, on Jan. 13 at 7 p.m.
