The Rhame Avenue Elementary School Class of 1963 was a post World War II melting pot, and many were first-generation Americans. Most of our parents had moved to East Rockaway from Brooklyn and other city boroughs after the war.

(East) Rockin' around the Christmas tree

The Village of East Rockaway had two tree lightings -- one at Village Hall, and the other on Main Street at Veterans Plaza. The residents marched in a holiday parade -- and some even rode in a horse-drawn carriage -- to listen to holiday tunes, watch dancing by the Dance Space, and enjoy a visit from Santa.

RVC Guild presents 'Gypsy'

Finally, the fair

Residents finally got to enjoy their annual craft fair on Atlantic Avenue in Lynbrook, happy that the rain date was a sunny day.
Hosted by the Lynbrook Chamber of Commerce, the fair featured jewelry, trinkets, clothing, antiques, toys and booths offering great items at great prices.

The Herald was there for North Shore Animal League America's 4th annual DogCatemy Celebrity Gala in the Cipriani Ballroom in Manhattan on Novemeber 5, presented by Purina ONE. Beautiful and famous two and four-legged celebrities walked the green carpet, smiling and barking for the cameras.
