Comprehensive Audiology in Lynbrook to provide free pair of hearing aids in holiday giveaway

To give back to the community this holiday season and help those in need during the coronavirus pandemic, Comprehensive Audiology in Lynbrook is hosting an event to supply a free pair of hearing aids to someone in need.

“I’ve been thinking about doing something like this during the holiday season for the past couple of years,” explained Dr. Esther Fogel, an audiologist and the business’s owner, “but because of what 2020 has brought and the pandemic, I feel there are more people out there who may be in need this year. I also want to show appreciation to the community.”

The business is accepting nomination letters from the community until Dec. 22 and will select the winner by Jan. 5. Fogel said those who are interested in nominating someone for the hearing aid giveaway could send a paragraph to Comprehensive Audiology explaining why they are nominating the adult or child. They can do so by emailing the business at info@comprehensiveaudiology.com, through the “contact us” portion of its website at comprehensiveaudiology.com, or by dropping hand-written or printed letters to the business, at 261 Broadway in Lynbrook. The business can be contacted at (516) 387-4000.

Comprehensive Audiology has partnered with the hearing aid manufacturer Oticon, and the winner will receive an examination, a fitting and the hearing aids free of charge. The nomination submissions will be reviewed by Fogel, her staff and reprsentatives of Oticon.

Fogel said the submissions could be for anyone, including adult and children in the community, such as  front-line workers or anyone else in need. She noted that with people wearing masks, it has caused many residents to realize that they are having difficulty hearing others when they have to listen to them speak with masks on, so more and more people are realizing they have hearing issues.

Comprehensive Audiology has been in business in Lynbrook for four years, and Fogel said her company has made many efforts to be a part of the community fabric. They include attending community events, participating in educational seminars on hearing loss, attending health care events and offering free hearing screenings. The business provides hearing health services for both adults and children — including diagnostic testing, hearing aid fittings, and custom hearing protection.

Fogel said that if the event is successful, she hopes to host a free giveaway of hearing aids in future holiday seasons.

“We are a small, personalized office,” she said. “We are invested in being involved with the community.”
