Children in first- through sixth-grade can learn how African Americans contributed to the whaling industry and create their own wooden ship and “ditty” bag at the Elmont Memorial Library on Feb. 20 at 4:30 p.m. Registration is required.

Learn the science behind the magic

Mad Science will demonstrate the science behind magic tricks to children in grades two through five at the Franklin Square Public Library on Feb. 26 at 4 p.m. Registration is required.

Help save the pollinators

Franklin Square residents can learn how to protect pollinators at the Franklin Square Public Library on Feb. 26 at 7 p.m. Attendees will be given a sign-up form to receive free plants from the Central Nassau County Rotary Club for their yards.
