Holiday fundraiser on tap in East Rockaway

An East Rockaway Winter Wonderland Boutique fundraiser is scheduled for Dec. 16 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Grant Avenue Firehouse. All proceeds will go to support the INN and local parishes, including St. Raymond’s, Bethany Congregational Church and the Church of the Nazarene.

“We just thought it was something nice to do for the town and we figured this was the best way to do it,” said Danielle Metzger, an EMT at the Grant Avenue Firehouse and one of the event organizers. “Then churches can give it to the ones in need who might not be coming forward.

The event will feature more than a dozen vendors, photos with Santa Claus, face painting and raffles.

Metzger said past fundraisers at the firehouse have raised between $5,000 and $8,000 for various causes. She added that she had help organizing the holiday event from members of the East Rockaway Fire Department and her friend Michelle Croce.

Metzger urged residents to help the cause. “Come on down and support your local parishes,” she said.
