The Orthodox Union announced that Lawrence resident Rabbi Dr. Josh Joseph has been appointed as the organization's executive vice president and chief operating officer.

Starting on Sept. 1, Joseph will work alongside OU's recently appointed executive vice president, Rabbi Moshe Hauer in leading the organization. He will be responsible for all aspects of OU programs and operations.

Prior to Joining OU, Joseph received his Ed.D. in higher education management and his Bachelor of Arts degree in diplomatic history from the University of Pennsylvania. Joseph has also worked at Yeshiva University for the last 16 years in a variety of positions as he most recently served as senior vice president for the school.

"I am excited to share the leadership of the OU and help to build the organization for the future and I'm grateful to all those who helped me get here, including my family,” Joseph said. “I look forward to working with Moishe Bane, the entire executive committee and board, the exceptionally talented Rabbi Hauer and the outstanding management team to position the OU for the future."

Hauer noted how he is looking forward to working alongside Joseph.

"Rabbi Dr. Joseph's reputation as a consummate professional and mensch precedes him and I'm very excited about working in partnership with him as we look to further strengthen our OU family internally and our services and offerings to the broader Jewish community," he said. "The OU has an ambitious agenda at a trying time. Coronavirus, anti-Semitism and racial strife present communal, spiritual, emotional challenges and opportunities that we must be prepared to meet.”
