Letters to the Lynbrook/East Rockaway Editor (May 9-15)

Our platform is to AIM-high
To the Editor:
We are writing this letter to clarify information that was published in the Herald article, “Lynbrook, East Rockaway have contested Board of Education races” (May 2-8.) We would like to provide additional context regarding the reason we were inspired to run for the Lynbrook Board of Education.
There were several factors that motivated us, including the desire to have a voice in optimizing the educational experience of the children in our community. Our positions as co-chairs of the Lynbrook North Middle School Compact Committee have enabled us to bring forth concerns of the parents and the community, and to contribute to the resolution of these issues. We would like to continue to provide a positive impact as members of the school board.
We appreciate the Herald’s prompt response to our request last week by publishing a fully revised online version of the article that includes our backgrounds, reasons for running and description of the A.I.M. High platform — which stands for Advocate, Innovate and Motivate.

If your readers have additional questions, we invite them to visit our Facebook page at Facebook.com/AIMHighParty. We look forward to meeting many new community members of the Lynbrook School District in the next few weeks.

I support Heather Hanson for BOE
To the Editor:
I support the re-election of Heather Hanson to the Lynbrook Board of Education.
Hanson has been an effective and diligent advocate for our schools and students. As a parent of children in the district, she is especially sensitive to the concerns of other parents and deserves our vote.
I know Hanson personally, and she was instrumental in assisting me in my efforts to get a disadvantaged Lynbrook student her high school diploma and acceptance to Farmingdale University. She helped change that student’s life for the better.
Hanson is not only smart and articulate, but also she has a wonderful personality and is approachable. I urge all residents to support Hanson on Election Day, May 21.
