Lynbrook was ranked among the top 100 school districts in New York state for the 2019-20 school year in a recent listing by Niche.com.
Niche, a school and neighborhood ranking website, slotted Lynbrook at No. 44 on its list.
“It is a testament of the commitment to excellence of our students, faculty and staff that Lynbrook is consistently ranked among the best school districts in New York state,” Superintendent Dr. Melissa Burak told the Herald in a statement. “I am very proud of their hard work and dedication to education.”
Each district received a letter grade in the categories of academics (A-plus grade for Lynbrook), diversity (B), teachers (A-plus), college preparation (A-plus), clubs and activities (A), health and safety (A-plus), administration (A-plus), sports (A-minus), food (B-minus) and resources and facilities (A-minus). Niche looked at data from the U.S. Department of Education along with test scores, college data and ratings collected from users of the website.
Six of the top 10 schools in the state were from Long Island, and Great Neck received the No. 1 mark. Niche has ranked Lynbrook as one of the best school districts in New York in previous years, and has also named it one of the safest districts in the state and one of the best places to teach.
