While Freeporter Roberto Roldan, 46, of South Bay Avenue, drove a 2013 gray Chevrolet Impala southbound on Nassau Road in Roosevelt, the First Squad Detectives of the Nassau County Police Department were on routine patrol. The officers conducted a vehicle and traffic law investigation at North Main Street and Davis Street at 2:25 a.m. on Jul 13. As they approached Roldan, officers said they smelled a strong odor of marijuana and found out he had a suspended license.
He was arrested. During further search of the vehicle, officers found a loaded semi-automatic handgun under the front passenger seat. They also found a green leafy substance inside the vehicle cup holder believed to be marijuana.
Roldan has been charged with criminal possession of a weapon second degree, criminal possession of a weapon third degree, criminal possession of a firearm, criminal possession of stolen property fourth degree, aggravated unlicensed operation second degree, unlawful possession of marijuana, and three vehicle and traffic law infractions. He was arraigned on July 14 at First District Court in Hempstead.
