Fine Wine and Food Festival
Foodies and oenophiles — or those who simply want to learn more about wine — can shake off the winter blahs at a tasty food and wine showcase. Sample some fine wines and spirits and explore the tastes of local vineyards and the region. Dozens of wineries from the North Fork, New Jersey and elsewhere are represented, along with top distilleries and breweries. Wines are paired with some of the best cuisine the region has to offer, from some of the area’s acclaimed restaurants and food trucks. Vendors will also be on hand selling home décor, wine and gourmet foods, along with other items. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to disaster relief as part of the Corks for Charity program.

100 Years at a Gold Coast Mansion
Step back in time during a winter celebration at Nassau County Museum of Art, in the grand estate that now houses the museum. 100 years ago Childs Frick, his wife Frances, and their four children moved into their home with fossils from his work as a paleontologist, and their many pets. Explore the Gold Coast mansion that was once their residence and let creativity unfold during a day of family-friendly art making and adventures. Guided by the current exhibition, “Wild Kingdom,” kids can create an animal-inspired mask to transform themselves, build colorful, patterned animal puppets, explore fossils with the Center for Science Teaching and Learning staff, and much more. And, in keeping with the 100-year commemoration, birthday cake will be served.
Sunday, Jan. 20, 1-4 p.m. Entrance fee is museum admission plus $15 per family materials fee. Reservations are not needed. Nassau County Museum of Art, 1 Museum Dr., Roslyn Harbor. (516) 484-9338 or www.nassaumuseum.org.
