Pirates shine in ‘Mr. Mepham’ pageant

Posted

The Mepham High School community packed the auditorium on Dec. 9 for the highly anticipated 11th annual “Mr. Mepham” pageant, which pitted nine student contestants in a friendly battle of wit, brains and talent to compete for the coveted title.

Each year, a group of judges chooses one student and one teacher as “Mr. Mepham.” They look for “well-rounded individuals who possess integrity, courage and embody the spirit of an ideal Mepham pirate.”

The evening’s hosts were students David Santos and Jack McCarthy. At the end of the night, senior Kenneth Franquiz came out on top as “Mr. Mepham.” Social studies teacher Salvatore Montemaggiore earned a crown, as well.
