Woman dies in Dec. 3 accident on Elmont Road

A woman died in an automobile accident on Dec. 3 at 2 a.m. on Elmont Road in Elmont, according to a statement released by Nassau County police officials. 

Police discovered a 2014 BMW sedan “in front of” Elmont Road on its side. “The investigation determined the vehicle was driving southbound on Elmont Road when it struck a parked car which caused it to roll over and strike a utility pole,” the statement read. 

The woman, 33, a passenger in the vehicle, was transported to a local hospital with serious injuries and was pronounced deceased by hospital staff shortly after. 

The driver, Kwesi Williams, 40, of Queens Village, was also injured and transported to a local hospital. 

After further investigation, Williams was arrested and later charged with manslaughter in the second degree, vehicular manslaughter in the second degree and driving while intoxicated. 

He will be arraigned “when medically practical,” police said.
