There has been a lot of progress made in the rebuilding efforts since Hurricane Sandy hit Long Island in late October, but there is still work to be done. The Long Island Volunteer Center is in need of volunteers to help those impacted by the storm.

Giving blood, getting coffee

Congregation Sons of Israel in Woodmere held its semi-annual blood drive on Dec. 9, called “One Pint Equals Two Cups.” Forty-three pints of blood were collected. Participants also could have their cheeks swabbed to see if they could be potential bone marrow donors.
