JCC choir goes viral

The Golden Notes Senior Choir of the Marion and Aaron Gural JCC sung for the members of the Selfhelp Virtual Center in a Feb. 2 performance that was streamed live over the Internet.

Viewers through the U.S. watched the choir sing a variety of popular, show and classical songs under the direction of choir master Zvi Klein such as “Oh, What a Beautiful Mornin’” the opening song from “Oklahoma!” and “Amor” a song recorded by Bing Crosby.

Choir member, Joe Margolin, who organized the performance, has been a discussion group facilitator for VSC for the past two years. “Being part of the JCC choir gives me great pleasure,” Margolin said. “I have met many new friends, while enjoying the vast world of popular and classical music which is a passion of mine. Recently I have had the privilege of being part of the Selfhelp project, which has been most rewarding. I was so elated that we could bring these two most exciting parts of my life together through our performance.”

The event was also made possible thanks to the efforts of Judy Goldberg and Rachayle Deutsch, program liaisons for the JCC, and Carmella Chessen, the Outstretch/Volunteer coordinator for Selfhelp, www.selfhelp.net.
