Bartending for fun and fundraising

Woodmere resident Ann DeMichael was the guest bartender at the Five Towns Kiwanis Autism Project fundraiser at Angelina’s Pizzeria & Restaurant in Lynbrook on Oct. 4. The three-hour event from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m., included a cash bar and a meal for a $25 donation.

With DeMichael pouring drinks and Angelina staff serving the food, $1,000 was raised with a donation going to Spectrum Designs Foundation, a nonprofit autism employment organization that provides jobs to teenagers and young adults on the autism spectrum in a custom apparel shop in Port Washington. Kiwanis President Tom Cohen said another donation will be discussed at the group’s next meeting on Oct. 18.
