To help raise money for Chai Lifeline and keep the Plaut family running record of 12 years going, Nina Plaut, 12, in connection with her bat mitzvah, ran in the 10K of the Rock and Roll Las Vegas Marathon, along with her father, Dan, as part of Team Lifeline. Plaut family members have also run in the Miami Marathon for Chai Lifeline.

Nina raised just under $6,000, as she also sold baked goods and cotton candy. Chai Lifeline aims to help lessen what the organizations calls “the emotional, social, and financial challenges facing families living with pediatric illness.” The New York-based charity also assists patients, parents and siblings to live “full lives” as they endure the devastating impact of pediatric illness.

The Nov. 17 race wound its way through the Nevada city’s streets and along the way the participants saw the sights from New York, New York, the historic Tropicana and the Venetian-Palazzo, where Team Lifeline were guests.
