Crime watch: Lynbrook, East Rockaway

Arrests

On Dec. 30 at 8:51 p.m., a 72-year-old Lynbrook resident was arrested and charged with violating an order of protection and criminal tampering on Merrick Road.

At 9:29 a.m. on Jan. 1, a 27-year-old resident  of Woodside, Queens was arrested and charged with two counts of aggravated unlicensed operator, suspended registration, unregistered motor vehicle and other vehicle and traffic law violations on Merrick Road.

A 56-year-old Lynbrook resident was arrested and charged with menacing, criminal possession of a weapon and harassment on Alice Court on Jan. 2 at 6:01 p.m.

Grand larceny

On Dec. 27 at 8:20 a.m., an East Rockaway resident reported that an unknown person entered his work truck overnight between Dec. 26 and 27 as it was parked in the lot at 10 Peninsula Blvd., and removed several cordless tools. The estimated loss was $1,788, and Lynbrook police are investigating the incident.

Fire

At 6 p.m. on Jan. 5, an occupied vehicle parked in Municipal Parking Field No. 12 caught fire while idling. The occupant was able to escape the car and call 911. The Lynbrook Fire Department extinguished the fire, and several other vehicles in close proximity were heavily damaged. The fire was not considered suspicious.
