Five Towns students excel at college

Inwood residents Joseph Curcio and Max Perez, along with Ariel Steinlauf of Lawrence, were three of the 1,046 New York Institute of Technology students named to the Westbury school’s fall Presidential Honor List. To qualify, candidates must be full-time students enrolled in a degree program with a grade-point average of 3.7 or higher.

Steinlauf was also among a group of 17 students from NYIT’s College of Engineering and Computing Sciences who attended the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers Region 1 Student Conference on March 8 to 9 at Binghamton University. The students competed against teams from other universities in the northeastern United States and also attended workshops and networking sessions.

Ari Begun, from Woodmere, and Lawrence resident Levi Fingerer were two of the 620 NYIT students on the dean’s honor list for the fall semester. To be eligible, full-time students must complete 12 or more credits and earn a GPA of 3.5 or higher. Part-time students must complete six or more credits and earn a GPA of 3.6 or higher.
