Getting up and dancing at Lawrence High

With precision and sleekness dancers moved about the stage of Lawrence High School’s theater as part of the show ICON that included costumes, dances and songs inspired by iconic performers through previous years.

Under the direction of Lawrence School District dance teacher Laila Sales and dances choreographed by students the May 19 show was an homage to “icons and idols who bring us joy to get up, get out and dance,” Sales noted.

She added that the “show is a monumental effort that wouldn’t be possible without the help and support of many teachers, students sand support staff throughout the district as well as guest artists. Students work tirelessly during and after school for the entire school year to put this show together.”
