The Hebrew Academy of the Five Towns and Rockaway High School’s girls’ varsity volleyball team, the HAFTR Hawks, has started off the season strong. As of press time, the team has a record of 3-0.

First, the girls took on and defeated the Stella K. Abraham High School for Girls Sonics on Nov. 9. The team played a total of three out of five sets, winning all of them.

The second game of the season took place at Flatbush High School on Nov. 16. Once again, spirits were high and the Hawks defeated their opponents within three sets.

Two days later HAFTR had their second match against SKA. This time taking place on the Sonics home court.

For the third time, HAFTR won all three sets and took home the win. Over the past month, every single member of the team participated and displayed exceptional skills and teamwork.

In each game, the girls worked together to achieve their wins by calling out to each other to communicate, and to make sure that the ball never hit the ground.

After every point was scored, or even lost, the girls cheered their teammates on and gave them a friendly high five.

These games mark the beginning of an exciting, competitive season for the girls’ volleyball team
