Hebrew Academy of the Five Towns and Rockaway Middle School eighth-grade girls take their charitable giving seriously. Between the beginning of the school year and December the students collected $400 and bought toys that were given to children in hospital those in need before Hanukkah.

In the new year, the charitable initiative accumulated $300. The young ladies went at Seasons kosher supermarket in Lawrence and purchased food that they donated to the Marion & Aaron Gural JCC Rina Shkolnik Kosher Food Pantry at the SHOP — the Sustenance Hope Opportunities Place — in Cedarhurst that offers nutritional support, basic necessities, guidance and encouragement to individuals and families facing hardships. After buying the food, the girls walked to the SHOP and stocked its shelves with the merchandise.
