Kindness is in the hair for SIBSPlace

The Beauty Parlor by A2L in Hewlett opened its doors on Oct. 17 for the mothers and girls who are a part of SIBSPlace and provided them with free hair washing, cuts, blow outs, styling, eyebrow waxing and manicures.

There was also dancing and face painting by Alexis from Prestigious Pampering, balloon decorations  by Debbie’s Flowers, food catered by Nicky Scarcella — owner of Da Nicola, another Hewlett staple, and desserts and good bags.

Manicurist Janette Ferraro jump started the event and was helped by owners Lauren LaBatto and Linda Parente, colleagues Doris Hernandez, Sherry Martinez, Monique McTurk, Megha Sehgal and Erica Starr.

Hewlett-based SIBSPlace, an affiliate of Mount Sinai South Nassau now in its 20th year, is a free program for well children living with a brother or sister with cancer or another devastating illness or a parent diagnosed with cancer. Parent groups and bereavement support are offered.
