Midreshet Shalhevet H.S. in North Woodmere to close permanently

Because of the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic, Midreshet Shalhevet High School, in North Woodmere, announced in an email on April 1 that the school will not reopen in September.

“We are forced to make this decision due to the financial impact of the recent coronavirus situation which, in combination with several other factors, have made it impossible for us to continue,” school officials wrote.

Seniors who complete their exams will be able to graduate, MSH officials said.

Juniors can transfer to another school or wait to hear from MSH, as officials explore the possibility of offering them remote Zoom classes in economics, health and English. More about this will be announced after Passover. The school will also provide guidance on college and going to school in Israel.

MSH officials have spoken to several local high schools, and they are prepared to receive applications from MHS's current freshmen and sophomores.
