No weekend Far Rockaway, Long Beach LIRR service

Beginning on Friday, April 16 at 10:15 p.m. through Monday, April 19 at 3:30 a.m., service 9n both directions on the Far Rockaway and Long Beach branches of the Long Island Rail Road will be suspended for signal cutover in Valley Stream, which is part of restoration work stemming from Hurricane Sandy damage.

Along the Far Rockaway branch: Traveling west, customers at Far Rockaway throgh Locust Manor will board buses, then transfer to westbound trains at Jamaica Station. Buses will depart up to one  hour earlier than usual train times.

Heading east, customers will board trains stopping at Jamaica and exit for bus service to stations Locust Manor through Far Rockaway (buses will stop at Valley Stream). Please allow for up to one hour of additional travel time.

The LIRR will also be performing switch work in and around the Far Rockaway station, so any residents in the immediate vicinity may hear some additional noise from its right of way. 

West Hempstead branch trains will operate express to and from Jamaica station with no stops at Valley Stream. All trains will operate express between Jamaica and Westwood stations.

Along the Long Beach branch: Traveling west, customers from Long Beach through Centre Avenue will board buses, then transfer to westbound trains at Lynbrook. Buses will leave up to one hour earlier than usual train times.

Going east, customers should board Freeport-bound trains and exit at Lynbrook for bus service to stations Centre Avenue through Long Beach. Please allow for up to one hour of additional travel time.
