If you love a good tale told well, motor sports, history and have memories or were told stories of the old Cedarhurst Raceway then you should enjoy Neal Bascomb’s latest book “Faster: How a Jewish driver, an American heiress and a legendary car beat Hitler’s Best” now available in book store and through the internet.

Bascomb, the New York Times bestselling author of “The Winter Fortress,” recounts the story of French Jew René Dreyfuss, banned from Europe’s best teams because of anti-Semitism, connecting with Lucy Shell and automaker Delahaye to defeat a Nazi-supported racing team. The books also mentions Long Island’s Roosevelt Raceway and the Vanderbilt Cup motor races.

Bascomb is scheduled to discuss his book at Temple Israel of Lawrence, 140 Central Ave. in Lawrence, on Thursday, April 23 at 7:30 p.m.
