Running on the Atlantic Beach boardwalk in Chest’s 5K

The winner was from Hewlett, the third place finisher from Woodmere and Atlantic Beach played host as the annual Community Chest South Shore 5K and Family Walk began by Sunny Atlantic Beach Club on Sept. 1.

David Durdaller, 17, of Hewlett, captured first place with a time of 16:37.79. New Yorker Yossi Goldstone, 18, place second in 17:15.47 and Alexander Niyazov, 16, from Woodmere, finished third in 17:24.39.

The three top women finishers were Deidre Forcier, of upstate Westport, in 22:28.94; Oceanside resident Dora Haar in 22:59.74 and New Yorker Gabby Cohen in 23:19.29.

Cedarhurst-based Community Chest serves as an umbrella charitable organization that raises money for the Five Towns Community Center, the Five Towns Early Learning Center, the Tempo Group Inc., and the Center for Adult Life Enrichment. It also helps individuals and families who face a variety of hardships through its Neighbors Helping Neighbors program.
