More than 150 people, including 142 racers, took part in the first-ever Brandeis 5K Run and Walk on April 7 to support the Jewish Day School’s athletic programs. Many students, family members, friends and runners participated.

With the help of several generous sponsors and participants, the event was a tremendous success, school officials said.

Evan Small was the overall winner with a time of 17:34. Eitan Libin (17:50) and Jonathan Pfeffer (18:05) finished second and third, respectively. Leiba Rimler was the first woman to complete the race. Her time was 20:15.

Jake Brown (27:52) was the first boy to cross the finish line and Ella Yamen (31:50) was the first girl.
Leah Einhorn, Elizabeth Kahn and Elana Lederman organized the event.
