Settina Clementina Pollera, 95

A former Herald “Woman of the Week,” Settina Clementina Pollera, 95, died on May 15. She was described as, “always ready to meet a new challenge, [and] always ready to extend herself and her horizons.”

Pollera worked her way up the employment ladder from a teller at the Peninsula National Bank to assistant vice president of Advertising and Public Relations. A strong advocate for women in the workplace, she was involved with several groups dedicated to furthering the business careers of women.


She had a deep appreciation for cooking and showed the same dedication to her family that she did in her career. He husband, Dominic, predeceased her, but she is survived by their children, Marie Basile, Patricia Parlo and Barbara Musacchio, her sister Marie Catropa, her grandchildren, Veronica and Jeffrey Cohen, Dominique and James Doyle, Dena Parlo, Patrick and Shannon Basile, Matthew and Mary Ellen Parlo, and her great-grandchildren Hope, Connor, Emma, Kristen, Trevor, Abby, Noah, Benjamin, Kayla, Isabella, Lily, Hannah, Josephine, Vincent, Kateri, Giovanna, and Xavier.


She was buried at St. Mary Star of The Sea Cemetery in Lawrence on May 23, after a mass at Our Lady of Good Counsel in Inwood.
