St. John’s Episcopal Hospital has established Innovative Health Partners, what officials of the Far Rockaway facility say is the first independent provider association from the Rockaways.

The only hospital on the Rockaway Peninsula, which also serves the Five Towns, aims to forge relationships with independent providers to improve access to care, enhance care coordination and streamline referrals. Innovative Health Partners will encourage the sharing of best practices, problem-solving, and experience, allowing providers to pool resources to manage patients efficiently and effectively.

“Our objective is to ensure our patients and community members achieve optimal health, and Innovative Health Partners will provide an enhanced platform to support our efforts,” said Jerry Walsh, St. John’s chief executive officer. “Whether patients receive care through an independent provider or at St. John’s, they will have access to the entire IHP provider network.”

Hospital officials said for independent providers the benefits include electronic integration of all IHP clinical practices, expedited post-care follow-up reports from St. John’s, continuing medical education; access the hospital’s medical library and more.
