Thanksgiving parade hosted at Ogden Elementary

Ogden Elementary School in Valley Stream held their own kind of Macy’s Thanksgiving Day parade in front of the school.

Roughly 30 students and their families decorated their cars similar to a parade float in themes that ranged from: holidays, movies, video games and sports teams for the first ever Ogden Elementary School Thanksgiving parade held on Nov. 24.

The winner of the best decorated car received a $50 gift card. As the families drove by, they were cheered on by Ogden Elementary staff and faculty. A red carpet was placed in front of the school that allowed parents and their children to pose for photos in front of their decorated cars.

The parade was filmed and will be broadcasted to all classrooms the following day on Nov. 26 while students are in school, so they can feel like they are part of the festivities. It will be presented in a similar format to the parade aired on NBC every year as two students will narrate the festivities.
