With access to amenities galore at Wantagh World Gym, as well as exciting field trips, children ages 3-14 can now look forward to a summer to remember. And, parents can rest assured that Wantagh Summer Camp will align with most busy schedules, whether they involve work obligations or not.

“Wantagh Summer Camp is extremely family friendly,” says Camp Director Joan Mylonas, who has been a part of Wantagh World Gym for over 20 years. She started out in the gym’s nursery, and now oversees the counselors, campers, scheduling, and activities. The summer day program was launched nearly 10 years ago. “Some of our employees have children in the camp. A number of our counselors were a part of Wantagh World Gym since childhood.”
Groups at camp are separated by grade. Field trips and activities are age-appropriate. In addition to the Wantagh World Gym space, both indoors and outside, campers have use of the pool (grade 1 and up), and sprinklers (pre-K and K). Activities include arts and crafts, board games, soccer, volleyball, dodge ball, GAGA, running bases, Parisi Speed School, Carnival Day, and much more.
Field trips are local, to neighboring towns. Some of what is planned for Summer of 2020 are RPM Raceway in Farmingdale (ages 8 and up), Air Trampoline in Ronkonkoma, Laser Bounce in Levitown, Wild Play (zip lining, ages 5 and up) at Jones Beach, Dave & Busters, and indoor rock climbing (ages 4 and up) at Island Rock in Plainview.
While a typical camp day is 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., children can be dropped off (for a small extra charge) at 8 a.m. and picked up at 5 p.m. Lunch and snacks can be brought from home or purchased at the gym.
This summer, camp will be open Monday through Fridays, from June 29 to Sept. 4. The nine-week session is a welcoming option for working parents, as many other summer programs end during August. And yet another advantage: There is no minimum amount of weeks a camper must attend. The only limit is at least two days a week. Camp rates are by the day or the week. Check the website for pricing and calendars. Registration is open now.
