Posted

Maliq Cumberbatch, of Hewlett, and Zachariah Farrell, from Cedarhurst, are two members of the New York Army National Guard who received promotions in recognition of their capability for additional responsibility and leadership.

Cumberbatch assigned to the 369th Sustainment Brigade received a promotion to the rank of Private First Class. Farrell assigned to the Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 1-69th Infantry received a promotion to the rank of Specialist. He was promoted to private in August.

Army National Guard promotions are based on overall performance, attitude, leadership ability and development potential. The promotions recognize the best-qualified soldiers and attract and retain the highest caliber citizen soldiers for a career in the New York Army National Guard, officials said.

There are nearly 2,000 members in the New York Army National Guard. For more information go to www.dmna.ny.gov or www.1800goguard.com.
