Maliq Cumberbatch, of Hewlett, and Zachariah Farrell, from Cedarhurst, are two members of the New York Army National Guard who received promotions in recognition of their capability for additional responsibility and leadership.

Cumberbatch assigned to the 369th Sustainment Brigade received a promotion to the rank of Private First Class. Farrell assigned to the Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 1-69th Infantry received a promotion to the rank of Specialist. He was promoted to private in August.

Army National Guard promotions are based on overall performance, attitude, leadership ability and development potential.
