Posted

An Elmont man was arrested on March 28 at 1:25 a.m. for robbing two victims at the intersection of Emily Avenue and Norma Street.

According to Nassau County police, two victims were sitting in a parked car at the intersection on March 27 at 11:30 p.m., when three unknown males wearing dark colored ski masks and blue surgical gloves approached them. The first suspect, police said, opened the passenger door and demanded the 19-year-old female victim’s money while displaying a silver and black semi-automatic handgun, while the second suspect allegedly approached the rear door on the driver’s side. Tyler Joseph, 23, of Elmont, then allegedly opened the driver’s side door, leaned into the car and demanded a 24-year-old male’s property.

Out of fear, police said, both victims complied and handed over their property. The suspects then fled the scene on foot in an unknown direction with three iPhones, a Louis Vuitton bag containing personal papers and an undetermined amount of money. No injuries were reported.

Then, at around 12:07 a.m., officers canvassing the area observed a gray colored Dodge Caravan occupied by four males. When they saw the police, they allegedly fled the scene at a high rate of speed northbound on Elmont Road. The officers then conducted a vehicle and traffic law stop in the rear parking lot of 485 Hempstead Tpke. The suspects then exited the vehicle, and  the driver and passenger evaded police while the two remaining males complied with the officers’ demands.

Joseph was then arrested without incident. He was charged with first-degree robbery and second-degree robbery. He was scheduled to be arraigned on March 28 in Mineola. No proceeds from the robbery were recovered.
