The Greene Turtle in Franklin Square closed for good on March 15, after its landlord raised the rent.

The Greene Turtle on Hempstead Turnpike in Franklin Square closed its doors for the last time on March 15.
According to Laura Cook, the manager, the landlord raised the rent on the property “astronomically,” and the Maryland-based Greene Turtle corporation could not justify paying it. The company is still doing well, however, Cook noted, and is looking to add other locations on Long Island.
“This is not a step back,” Cook said, “we’re just going to have to switch where we are.”
She added that she is transferring any employees she can to the East Meadow location, at 1740 Hempstead Tpke.
