Posted

It began in 2019, was interrupted because of the coronavirus in 2020 and returned his year with 120 participants, 86 of them in-person who took part in what was billed as the second annual Brandeis 5K Run on June 13. Another 34 took part virtually and more than $15,000 was raised.

Starting off from in front of the school on Frost Lane in Lawrence runners and some walkers took for the 3.1-mile jaunt. Evan Small was the first to cross the finish line in the back of Brandeis with a time of 19:01.68; followed by Leiba Rimler, the first woman to finish, in 20:21.88 and then Megan Doyle in 21:32:50. Gabriel Glass was right behind Doyle in 21:34.38.

Elena Lederman and Esther organized the school fundraiser that also handed out T-shirts to the participants, the requisite water and medals to top finishers.

Nassau police from the 4th Precinct and members of the auxiliary police unit secured the runners safety across the race route.
